  • PCI Elects New Officers to the Board of Governors at Annual Meeting
  • HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) elected new officers to its Board of Governors today during the association’s annual meeting. Jim Wallace, chairman, president and CEO, GuideOne Insurance, was elected as PCI’s chair; John Barbagallo, commercial lines group president, Progressive Insurance Group, was elected first vice chair; and Kurt Bock, CEO, COUNTRY Financial was elected second vice chair.

    “We are thrilled to welcome Jim as PCI’s board chair. Jim, along with John and Kurt, bring a high level of expertise across the industry and insight that will be invaluable as PCI continues to address and embrace disruptions, such as the sharing economy, global regulatory convergence, and technological innovations,” said David A. Sampson, PCI’s president and CEO. “These disruptors also present opportunities. We look forward to engaging with our newly elected board leadership as we continue to anticipate and navigate emerging risks and identify the opportunities to innovate, lead, and deliver the 21st century product choices that consumers expect and demand.”

    Jim Wallace

    Chairman, President, and CEO

    GuideOne Insurance

    Jim Wallace is chairman, president, and CEO of GuideOne Insurance. Wallace joined the company in 2001. Previously, he was the president and CEO of National Travelers Life Company and, prior to that, partner in charge of insurance services for the eastern half of the U.S. for Ernst & Young. Wallace is past chair of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. He currently serves on numerous industry and community boards, including the Des Moines Art Center, the Greater Des Moines Committee, the Catholic Foundation of the Iowa Diocese, and the Drake University Board of Trustees. Wallace is a graduate of Drake University.

     

    John Barbagallo – PCI First Chair

    Progressive Insurance Group

    John Barbagallo is commercial lines group president at Progressive Insurance Group. Barbagallo joined Progressive in 1983 and his career at Progressive spans more than 30 years and includes management positions in claims, sales, operations, product & development and marketing. He received his bachelor’s degree from Union College and his master’s degree from Purdue University.

    Kurt F. Bock – PCI Second Chair

    COUNTRY Financial

    Kurt Bock is CEO of COUNTRY Financial. He joined the Illinois Agricultural Association (IAA) family of companies in 2003 as chief executive officer of the IAA Credit Union. Previously, he served as treasurer of COUNTRY Financial and IAA and was the chief operating officer of Horizon Hobby. He serves on the Illinois State University Foundation Board and is a commissioner of the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority. He earned a bachelor’s degree of science from the United States Air Force Academy, a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University and a doctoral degree of philosophy in business administration from Saint Louis University.
